An aspiring writer I am, learning this masterful craft. So much effort of me is invested in writing my stories, because I do it for myself. I write because I painstakingly enjoy every bit of it.

Writing is an art I fully enjoy.

I love writing for its rewards and challenges. I testify that writing is indeed an art justified by its imagination, creativity and difficulty. Increasingly I am realizing writings positive impacts on my life. I grow as a person when I write.

Writing makes me a better person because it challenges me to grow

When I sit down and write, I have to think.

  • Ideation — Imagining interesting stories is hard. It requires my creativity, ingenuity and thoughtfulness to work at peak performance.
  • Articulation — I have to push myself hard to craft a story that is carefully written with guise. A story that strikes a positive balance between logic and imagination.
  • Engagement—A a writer, I do not write for myself, I write for an audience. I write to inspire, entertain, and spark imaginations. My words are my arsenal but I use them for love.

I push my creative self to its limits to write. I do that so my work is worthwhile, so my work has an opportunity to make a positive impact on people. I must remind myself everyday when I sit down to write that I am good enough. That I have a decent message to share and it’s scary, but also a ton of fun. Writers are amongst the most confident people amongst us.

I’m still in the primitive stages of my writing journey. I only started publishing stories a mere three months ago. It took me this short amount of time to fall in love with writing. I am so proud of my myself for the courage to publish, eight stories so far.

Everyday I try to overcome the voices in my head telling me I am not good enough, that my work will not be read by anyone, that it will not have an impact. I realize the importance of shutting out these voices and I try to do it everyday. I do this because I love writing. Writing brings me joy, the thought that my writing could positively impact anyone is paramount to my fulfillment.

Being a writer means knowing yourself very well. Knowing what makes you special, what makes you different, what makes you who you are. There is no hiding when you write, you must put all of yourself out there for the entire world to see and you must be comfortable doing so. You must fall in love with the craft.

To be a better writer, I am going to do things differently from now on. I am going to try and live in the moment, take risks, and push beyond my expectations. I realize that I will have no comfort zone as a writer because I am challenged everyday beyond imagination, and I love it.

I wish all of you find what you love.
